Dunwich is a town located on the Western side of North Stradbroke Island.  The Island is located approximately one hour ferry ride from Cleveland, it is the second largest sand Island in the world and a very picturesque place.  North Stradbroke Island has a wealth of history, from the early settlers and the local Aboriginal tribes.  There are authentic Aboriginal art galleries and an interesting museum.  We took a stroll through the old cemetery and really felt connected with the early settlers and the hardships they faced, these stories told to us by the worn inscriptions on the tomb stones some as old as the early 1800’s. After some local fish and chips at the café we wandered into the Little Ships Club and enjoyed a few drinks, while looking at Somerset Cat at anch

We are on our trip to Tangalooma at the moment, However the wind has been southerly and up to 30knots over the last few days and we decided that Tangalooma wasn’t safe in such rough seas. We parked next to the powerlines on our first night on our trip, we crossed underneath the powerlines for the first time, and we were all very nervous, although we had been told we will easily clear the lines, they looked very close to our mast. Dad made us all stay away from any metal just in case. After we made it though we parked for the night, waiting for the

Ahoy mate’s It has been very boring sitting at Grandmas doing nothing. Although Lauren  and I saw Rango last night, it’s a really  good movie but  different to what I thought it  would be. Last weekend we went to my cousin’s birthday party. The party was at the park and it rained a bit, Lauren dressed up as a fairy  and was face panting all the kids at his party. After the party we went to his house, he opened all his presents and I slept over at his house. We are going to Tangalooma in a week I’m looking forward to going its going to be so fun That’s all for n

Hello again, Well I have been very busy since I last posted. At college I studied documentaries and had to produce a documentary of my own. I decided to make a documentary on my family, dropping everything and selling everything they own to follow their dreams.  Pausing their normal life, picking up the family and going sailing. Since I finished my small assignment I have pitched the idea to all my teachers, friends and many people in the industry trying to get some interest. Turns out a lot of people want to hear our story. So yesterday I met with my producer Phoebe Hart and s

Hi all, We are still on the sunny Gold Coast. As Jo spoke about in her last blog we are staying with my parents at Carrara and are still trying to sell our old ski boat. If any one knows any one that wants a much loved Searay 200 Sundeck please let me know. I have also put Jo's car for sale. The market seems to be very flat and nothing seems to be selling. I have reduced the price of the boat so hopefully we will get it sold soon. The only other news is that I had a bit of a sore on my right forearm that did not want to heal so I booked into the Skin Cancer Clinic to get it looked at. The doctor decided to cut it out just in case. Better to be safe than sorry. They sent it away for examination and I have not herd anything so everything must be ok. I get the stitches out this weekend.

Just an update on our travels and exploration of the beautiful area of South Stradbroke Island just off the Gold Coast, we have ventured across the island quite a few times over the last couple of months and the beauty never ceases to amaze and surprise us. On one journey across the island we drove the rubber duckie to a place we knew as Hargraves, it was originally hom

I haven’t blogged in a while so I shall give you a little recap of my last couple of months. I graduated college at the end of last year, just before Christmas and since then the family  and I have been catching up with friends and family down here on the gold coast, some stuff on the boat needs some work and we are in the process of selling our cars. Over Christmas David and his brother joined our family for a big weekend at my  uncle’s house in sanctuary cove. Then Dave and I headed to Sydney for new years.  We stayed at his Auntie’s house fo

Hi all, We are still on the Gold Coast. It has been really cool catching up with all my cousins. We spent a couple of days last week mored at wave break island, it was great we snorkelled around the rock wall and under the boat. The water was really clear and I saw lots of fish, one of them was bright blue and looked like it glowed in the dark.

I started home schooling last week and it was bit weird. I want to say hi to all my friends back at Noosa and all the kids and teachers from the Good Shepherd College. See you all soon. Mac

Hi all, Well what a month it has been, floods, cyclones, and now in WA fires. Australia is certainly an interesting place to be at the moment, our hearts and prayers go out to all the people that have lost love ones and property.  We are still on the Gold Coast, basically hanging to see what the weather is going to do. We still might make the trip south to Ballina, then to Yamba and the up the Clarence River as it is way to early to go to far north. As I stated we are just waiting to see what the weather is going to do. We are all getting a bit stir crazy, we all just want to get going, but the one piece of a
